"Communicating Effectively in the Workplace"-Includes interpersonal communications on the job, developing rapport with employees, your communication style, effective listening, barriers to effective listening, strategies that build effective two-way communication, and effective written business communications. "Dealing with Differences in People"-Includes administration or review of personality profile, identifying challenging behaviors, developing and carrying out strategies for managing challenging behaviors, barriers to understanding different behavior, and challenges of gender/cultural differences. "Transition from Worker to Supervisor"-Includes the role of the supervisor, characteristics of effective supervision, personality characteristics that affect a supervisor's style, administration or review of personality profile, skills for effective supervision, and stress management for supervisors. "Planning, Organizing, and Managing Time"-Includes goal setting and defining objectives, determining how to measure objectives, delegating tasks, identifying time wasters, taking control of time, and benefits of goal setting and time management. "Team Building"-Includes characteristics of productive teams, building trust, gaining commitment, increasing employee involvement, feedback and how to use it, implementing change, interpersonal skills for effective teams, and collaboration, compromise, and consensus. "Creating Trust"-Includes characteristics of a trusting environment, expected behaviors in an environment of trust/non-trust, the effect of gossip on trust, how to build trust, and the impact of trust on the bottom line. "Motivating Employees"-Includes characteristics of a motivational work environment, what motivates employees, various well-known models for motivation, and the role of the supervisor in motivating employees. "Conflict Resolution and Negotiation"-Includes when conflict can arise, identifying conflict management styles, your style of handling conflict, listening skills review, negotiation strategies, and win-win conflict resolution. "Coaching Skills for Supervisors"-Includes difference between supervising and coaching, identifying when coaching is desirable, characteristics of an effective coach, barriers to effective coaching, strategies for effective coaching, how to conduct a coaching session, and measuring effective coaching. "Problem Solving & Decision Making"-Includes spotting problems and barriers to problem solving, common problems supervisors face, developing an appropriate problem solving model, working through the problem solving/decision making process, implementing solutions, and critical thinking skills and practice. "Professional Behavior"-Includes making introductions, networking, workplace and public manners, professional conflict management, managing emotions, and meeting and team behavior skills. "Assuming a Leadership Role"-Includes characteristics of effective leaders, the difference between leaders and managers, your leadership profile, leadership styles, impact of leadership on the organization, leadership and change management, and employee responses to leadership.
